At last. Back in April I began thinking about the new site. I vowed during the week that I would have the site live by the end of the weekend. It is not complete – I have not finished the gallery, the rss feed (which I had on the old site for ages but never had a link to it), or the comments facility. I’m not 100% happy with the colour scheme, so I’ll be experimenting with that in the coming months too.

Memento Mori
Far out – I’m listening to Amino by HDU. I’ve ordered the EP Memento Mori and the album Fireworks. Two years is too long without a new HDU album. Here’s hoping?

Software times
I’ve installed the latest version of Mozilla Firebird . I’d had a few issues with 0.6 remembering my settings. It wasn’t until I installed 0.61 that I realised that I hadn’t created a profile when I had first installed 0.6, which had led to the problems.
I’ve also installed imesh to compliment Kazaa, although imesh is riddled with spyware and the like. If it doesn’t deliver its outta here. I downloaded ‘Finding Nemo’ – it was a poor quality copy and I thought the film kinda sucked. However, I may have downloaded a ‘pre-release’ demo, ie, it may not be the final cut. I still haven’t been able to download T3, but the hunt goes on.
I also downloaded a demo of Zend Studio. And a copy of my old favourite Notes Buddy (although you don’t need Notes to use it). I love having my PC read me my emails!

moment of clarity…
I threw the current design of this site togther just under a year ago. I knew it wasn’t designed with the ‘end-user’ in mind, I have just had a glimpse of how awful it is. I dig the orange, I like the way that the site looks unique, but, for some reason, I just had an insight into the clumsiness of the interface. I think that most of these issues are resolved in the new design. I think that it is important to get a simple yet solid little site up soon. I pledge that I will do this by the end of next weekend (17 August). I have spoken.

some piccies

I remember Bill Clinton talking about what book he had on his ‘nightstand’. I guessed what a nightstand was, and here’s a picture of mine. Sans books.

for the record
Something I like being able to do is look back over past entries to see what movies I watched and when. I know that no one else who might happen across the site gives a shit about this, but hey. So here are some recent watches:
- The Pianist (I have to write about that – it was a real mind-fuck for me)
- erm, let me think…
- Oh yeah, the start of Wild Strawberrys, I’ll watch the rest soon
Hmm, that wasn’t very worthwhile.

heat

Broadband and other cool things
We have broadband. I can’t believe how much nicer surfing at home has become. I’ve been busy on kazaa, which I always liked but am finding that I’m becoming addicted to it. When you can download tracks in a few minutes it takes on a new significance. We used to use kazaa over a year ago on a 56k modem. We’d leave it running all night and still have not downloaded much.
And I have a new laptop. It’s a beautiful little IBM X24, which weighs less than half my Dell Latitude, and is far smaller too. Alright.
AND the season three of the Family Guy turned up at the weekend.
On the downside my old dad had one of his kidneys out last night. It sounds like he’s doing fine, and my fingers are crossed.

digi bag

yeh yeh yeh – I bought one of these yesterday – I love Gravis . It is the most stylely laptop bag I have come across. Never thought I would get excited about a bag but there we are.I’ve signed up for broadband at last. I opted for virgin.net as not only do they not require a minimum 12 month commitment, they are also the cheapest. I have also joined a gym and intend to try a get up at the ungentlemanly hour of 7 tomorrow to sweat off some blubber. I will keep you posted, as the odds on me getting out of bed before 8 are pretty long…
