    From The Hagakure

There is something to be learned from a rainstorm. When meeting with a sudden shower, you try not to get wet and run quickly along the road. But doing such things as passing under the eaves of houses, you still get wet. When you are resolved from the beginning, you will not be perplexed, though you still get the same soaking. This understanding extends to everything.

    a lama speaks

my friends and I asked the dalai lama around for a cup of tea when he was in New Zealand, alas, he couldn’t make it….

“Although you may have experienced many negative events in the past, with the development of patience and tolerance it is possible to let go of your sense of anger and resentment. If you analyze the situation, you’ll realize that the past is the past, so there is no use in continuing to feel anger and hatred, which do not change the situation but just cause a disturbance within your mind and cause your continued unhappiness. Of course, you may still remember the events. Forgetting and forgiving are two different things. There’s nothing wrong with simply remembering those negative events: if you have a sharp mind, you’ll always remember, he laughed. “I think the Buddha remembered everything. But with the development of patience and tolerance, it’s possible to let go of the negative feelings associated with the events.”

was at a pub called the churchill last night…

Lady Astor: “Winston, if I were your wife I’d put poison in your coffee.”
Winston: “Nancy, if I were your husband I’d drink it.”

    blade runner

watched blade runner (for the second time I think), this time thinking about the question “is Harrison Ford a replicant?”. I was glad I did because the penny dropped at the end and a great movie got a whole lot better.

How did ridley go from blade runner and alien to gladiator? it seems incredible to me that those movies were directed by the same guy.

    Lewis/Tyson at a club?

You wouldn’t think that at an ‘invite only’ club in london this could happen. The DJs play under a TV tuned to Sky sport. At 4am the music stops and the TV volume goes right up. The hippy crowd switch from their tripping to howling for Tyson’s blood. The transformation from rave to sports bar takes about 10 seconds. Clubbers downstairs hear the fight is on and rush up. The crowd are really euphoric after the KO. The DJs start up again and the club returns to normal. Who’s the greatest?

    Number One

This is the bucketfountain release 0.01. Currently a Plain Jane but set to improve over the next few weeks. I have built it so that I can update the site from any machine in the world with a browser and a net connection (nearly).
Naturally there’s still a few bugs to sort out, but not too bad for a weekends work….
