    High Contrast Flickr

So I’m uploading a fair bit to flickr at the moment. I always *have* to look at the bottom of the homepage, the section called Everyone’s Uploads. Earlier today were two images that contrasted hugely; one from a refugee camp in Jordan, the other from San Frans ‘Bay to Breakers‘.

It’s a small world, but a very different one depending on where you live.

(The image of the Palestinian folk can be found here, the Californians here.)

    pwned!

After nearly 6 years of trouble free interneting, bucketFountain was compromised by evil-doers. The exploit involved changing a theme file so that it called a javascript file that inserted all sorts of hidden spam links into the footer. While I confess many of the links looked highly interesting, they had to go. The worst thing is that bucketFountain has been blacklisted by the almighty Google.

Needless to say I immediately upgraded (which was long overdue) and replacing the offending file in the theme.

A number of good things have come out of this:

    • WordPress 2.5 is spiffing
    • This chap has a rather useful category on WordPress security
    • The WordPress Automatic Upgrade (WPAU) is excellent

If you run WordPress, check your blogs source now and go straight to the bottom, it will be obvious if there’s a problem.

    Had to link to this

From 37Signals, Urgency is Poisonous. Spot-on. And wouldn’t it be great not to be so tied to deadlines.

    Habana

Wow! Habana is a hip, hip, city. I can’t upload photos at the moment, but everything is decaying and stunning. We drove around with a guide (more about him in a future post) last night, a Saturday, and the streets were alive with people. Not in large crowds, but hanging around in the streets or outside clubs and cafes. There are old cars everywhere, many of them are also decaying, but they are look and sound amazing. The other striking things about Habana are the heat, which is almost perfect; and the sounds of the streets, which consist of cars, bikes, music, the occassional horse carriage for tourists, and chatter.

Anyone who wants to visit an amazing city should come to Habana.

The Saturn V was certainly the highlight. It is absolutely enormous. The first stage:
