    BucketFountain search terms

The most interesting part of looking at site stats are the search terms people have used to find the site. Sometimes they’re lewd, sometimes they’re slightly odd, and sometimes people just need a hand with something. Take, for example, this poor chap:

dsl-g604t not connecting with windows vista

Oh dear! Well, on this happy occasion I’m glad I can guide this reader to a solution.

Ubuntu Feisty lives up to its name

Which isn’t necessarily a good thing. It looks as though hoards of upgraders to Feisty are finding that they can no longer connect to wireless networks. One of my machines could not even connect down the wire…. Oh why didn’t I just stick with 6.10? Come back Edgy Eft!

    May already

Holy crap, where is the year going? Fav story this week is the supercomputer that has mimicked a mouse brain. Well actually half a mouse brain. For 10 seconds. But actually it turns out that it was running 10 times slower than a real mouse brain, so it was equivalent to one second. Still, that’s great progress.

    Essential software on Ubuntu

While I like Ubuntu I can’t say I’m a huge fan of Gnome (I prefer KDE). However, the Dive into Mark man’s essential software list has some gems on it (such as k9copy for copying DVDs).

    WordPress upgrade

Another painful upgrade, although I guess I’ll get used to them. What I hate is that the site is down and I’m never sure how long for. That’s mostly due to the slow FTP speed I get with Bluehost. It’s certainly something I don’t want to do regularly, but I was unlucky enough to upgrade to WordPress 2.1.1 which had been compromised by a cracker. 2.1.2 fixed that, but no upgrading for me unless necessary or highly beneficial.
