    Novel Writing

Last month I mentioned that I was taking part in National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo). It has started and I have laid down the first 2000 words of a master work. It took me 4 hours to write 2000 words and that is cause for alarm. Still, it’s a start and I’m sure that as I get into the swing of things it will become a lot easier.

Also, the new interface for the website is looking good and hopefully I will be able to upload it quite soon.

    My first novel

This is the National Novel Writing Month site which encourages buffoons like myself (and some talented people too) to write a 50,000 word novel in the space of a month. Quality is not the aim, but the more noble and artistic pursuit of sheer quantity. It is all explained on the site and I challenge any readers of this post to have a go. I may publish some of the excerpts from my novel on the site, but I’ll see how crap it is first and make a decision on that basis. Jess sent me the link to the site and I immediately wanted to have a go. It should be a laugh and I’ve always wanted to write a novel!

    the road goes ever on…

I just checked the site usage statistics for the first time in nearly a year(!). October was an interesting month. I thought that no one was actually looking but I was proved wrong. There were more visitors than just me. More incentive to crack on with improvements.

It goes on, the upgrading goes on.

Why can I not book a ticket on the Eurostar site? This is crap, it’s been like that for two days now.

    can openers and inspiration

Pilchards on toast for lunch… hmmmm. Day three of the Liver Cleansing Diet. Have broken the rules every day so far but I am eating a little better than usual. Must buy a can opener.

And for inspiration: Emulate3 . That is fantastic. For me it’s back to the old drawing board as they say….

Last night I saw Coldplay at Wembly Arena. Great band and great gig, but what a shite venue. A fine night was had by all I’m sure.

    Upgrade Blues

So they upgraded the server today and I have noticed some funny stuff on the site. Some things are not working as they should be. I will get it all fixed very soon though.

    it’s ALIVE

Sinice I have posted the site I guess that I should treat it as such and include some proper material. I noticed that HDU (one of the finest Dunedin bands) have a web site . I wish I had taken some pics of them in ’95 (or was it ’94?). I can still remember the first time I saw these guys play at the Empire in Dunedin. They opened for Age of Dog and blew everyone away. The power of those early HDU Dunedin gigs was totally awesome.

Thinking of writing a novel online. The problem is that I only tap into the writing vibe when a, I’m drunk or b, I’m lying in bed. Could be a good career move, lying in bed, chugging beer and writing my first novel.

    Tube Strike

As tube workers strike London is thrown into chaos. It took young Natasha 25 minutes to get down Edgeware Road on a bus this morning – it would usually take 5. I don’t know where everyone is going to park when they finally get their cars into the city….

    Notes 6

Lotus actually made Notes/Domino 6 ‘Gold’ yesterday, but today is the official release date for the new version of Lotus Notes/Domino 6 from IBM (or whatever the fuck they’re calling it). It probably means I will have to redesign the site and update my certification too….

    Notes Domino 6

this quote from Big Al is interesting – it has been about three years since Lotus released R5. “Lotus’ goal going forward will be to release major Lotus/Domino upgrades every 18 to 24 months.” The full article is here

    Vanishing Point

When will the 1971 film Vanishing Point be released on DVD? The shite remake is freely available but the classic is not. It is one of the best movies I have ever seen. The soundtrack is also fantastic.
