Kyoto

From the beeb:

“We do not believe that the Kyoto Protocol is something that is realistic for the United States and we have no intention of signing or ratifying it,” State Department spokesman Adam Ereli said.

Good one, Adam Ereli. See you in hell, buddy .

Home wrecker of the week

“If we legitimize same-sex unions, we will make ourselves even more of a target for terrorists.”

Say wha…? Found at I Do, which I found via Civic Space, which is what the Spread Firefox site runs on.

Terrorism old and new

Guy Fawkes at Charing Cross station
I’ve always liked the Guy Fawkes mural at Charing Cross tube station. You can see in the photo where the litter bin used to be (there are no litter bins on the London Underground, they were removed when the IRA was at war with the UK - rubbish bins were used to deposit bombs). The consequence of a recent war has become part of the mural of an even older one.

The Chomster on Nation States

“…the nation-state system has been one of the must brutal and destructive creations of Europe and its offshoots, imposed by force on much of the rest of the world, with horrendous consequences for centuries in Europe, and elsewhere until the present.” See the full ting ‘ere.

This is from a debate in which the great man has honoured Noah Cohen by taking it “seriously enough” to respond.

Shave the Bush!

Shave the Bush - protest in Trafalgar Square

I was down in Trafalgar Square venting my frustration at the emperor tonight. It’s a lot of fun at these gigs, there are so many different characters there. We had a chat to the loony Socialist Party guys for a while, lovely folks but without a clue. And I got handed a pamphlet from an Islamic Fundamentalist… pretty way out stuff about the media, fashion, alcohol, gambling…. The craziest thing about it was that you could substitute every quote from the Koran with one from the Bible and it would read as a Christian Fundamentalist pamphlet.

Stewie for governor

Who said that everyone was running for governor of California?

Stewie for governor

I can’t believe that Fox produced and ran three seasons of “The Family Guy”, as Peter, Stewie, Brian and the gang cut it pretty close to the bone and it sounds like Fox are a bunch of fasci….
